What are high flexibility implants?

In this video, Dr. Ramneek Mahajan, Director - Orthopedics & Joint Replacement, Max Smart Super Specialty Hospital, New Delhi, will talk on high flexibility implants. He tells us that all implants are made to bend to a particular angle. Many of us wants more flexibility, hence the companies has started tweaking 2 degree bend posteriorly either on the femur or tibia side so that the knee could slightly bend more. These are known as high flex implants. But there is a need to counsel the patients that not all implants will bend beyond a certain limit and also high flex knees does not mean that your knee will bend full. It only bends on the preoperative range of option. If the range is over more than 80 or 90 degrees before surgery than it won’t be 155 degree after surgery.
