What is Endophthalmitis?

In this video, Dr. Manisha Agarwal, Vitreo-retina surgeon, Dr. Shroffs Charity Hospital, New Delhi, explains about endophthalmitis in this video. Once the patient undergoes cataract surgery, a lot of patients come with the complaint of improper vision, lot of pain and redness in the eyes which generally persists from the cataract surgery done. Dr. Manisha will tell us that the patient is prone to develop infection after undergoing any kind of surgery even if it is a small surgery. If such symptoms are present after cataract surgery, then it could be endopthalmitis which is the infection in front of the retina. This condition needs urgent treatment with intra-vitreal antibiotic injections.
