What is an ideal bed occupancy rate?

In this video, Dr. K K Aggarwal, Padma Shri Awardee, Editor-in-chief IJCP Publications, will discuss about what is an ideal bed occupancy rate? He states that the ideal bed occupancy rate should be less than 85%. More than 85%, would increase the risk of harm which includes hospital acquired infections like methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and clostridium difficile. He further states that in any hospital if the occupancy rate is more than 85% then it is not an ideal hospital to get admitted. Many hospitals have 3 patients in one bed, the resources available are distributed to many more patients, and hence all patients suffer. So government should take the necessary step regarding the bed occupancy rate and send the patients to nearby panel hospitals and take care of their expenses.
