In this video, Dr. Mahesh Verma, Padma Shri Awardee, President of Indian Academy of Restorative Dentistry (IARD) and Vice President of Dental Council of India, will discuss about dental implants, in this video. Dental implants are used to replace teeth but they are not teeth. They are anchors to hold teeth which are made of titanium screws or fixtures which are placed by a small surgical procedure. There are no known contraindications for dental implants, many individuals can get it done. He will further explain the procedure how the dental implants are placed which is mainly through surgery. He will also further talk on healing time which takes approximately takes 3 – 6 months. He will discuss about the advantages of dental implants and how to maintain it.
