It is an illness where a person is sad with lack of energy, mood is down, disturbed sleep. When a doctor is depressed lot of questions comes in his mind, whether to consult a psychiatrist, or his colleagues, or if anyone comes to know about his illness, fear of social stigma, etc. Because of all these thoughts, doctors are more prone to depression and suicidal thoughts. The suicide rate is very high among doctors. Doctors should not shy away and seek treatment and stop self-medication.
