What is Strabismus or Squint?

In this video, Dr. Suma Ganesh, Head of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Dr. Shroffs Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi, will talk about strabismus or squint. Strabismus or squint is mostly hereditary and even seen in premature babies. Dr. Suma will explain the causes of strabismus. Strabismus has to be treated as early as possible. If the child is born with inward deviation of the eye, this type of squint has to be treated immediately. A child who is born with very high number can develop squint. This type of squint can be corrected with a pair of glasses. She will also discuss the importance of wearing glasses to correct the squint or strabismus. If the quint is not corrected by glasses then surgery is required. She will also discuss when the surgery is done to correct the binocular vision of the eye.
