Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Advisory Committee's Updated Immunization Schedule (2023)

New developments in vaccinology and the availability of new vaccines have prompted a need to revise/review the existing immunization recommendations. The Advisory Committee on Vaccines and Immunization Practices (ACVIP) of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) organized a physical meeting on March 25, 2023, and a series of online meetings discussed the updates and new recommendations and drafted an evidence-based consensus.

The major changes done in the previous IAP immunization recommendations of 2020-21 include-

  • a recommendation for the HPV vaccine for boys
  •  a 2-dose schedule of 9vHPV for boys and girls aged between 9-14 years
  • A dose of Td vaccine at 16-18 y;
  • Guidance for injectable polio vaccine (IPV) for patients shifting from the National Immunization Program to the IAP schedule.
