The video will explain about urine culture by Dr. Narendra Saini, MBBS, MD, Internal /General Medicine. Urine culture is an important tool in any infections specially women and children. The urine culture has to be taken before taking antibiotics. Patient should be informed that before collecting urine for urine culture, the private parts are to washed properly. Dr. Saini further states that the mid-stream urine has to be collected. The urine has to be collected in the sterile culture bottle. Also, there is no need to fill the whole bottle, only two-third bottle is enough. For the urine culture, only 2-3 drops are required. The urine sample should be reached to the laboratory as soon as possible.
