In this video, Dr. Suman Kirti, Endocrinologist, Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi, talks whether all diabetic patients should receive ACE inhibitors. If the following conditions are present with diabetes then ACE inhibitors are given: Renal disorders or Nephropathy, Cardiovascular disease, Stroke. Dr. Suman tells us that to some extent ACE inhibitors are given to almost all diabetics because of the development of nephropathy which is insidious or at diagnosis. Also 50% of diabetics develop hypertension within 5 years of diagnosis or are already hypertensives. In such cases, the choice of antihypertensive treatment is ACE inhibitors.
