What is metabolic memory?
In this video, Dr. Suman Kirti, Endocrinologist, Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi, will explain about metabolic memory. Metabolic memory is a term used to describe beneficial effects of immediate intensive treatment of hyperglycemia and the observation that they are maintained for many years. Patients with intensive treatment have less complications. Also when these patients switched to their conventional treatment and even if the HbA1c has gone up to 7, the body remembers that good control in the previous years of intensive treatment which continues in the next many years. Dr. Suman will talk about the trials in which the patients had a metabolic memory effects and about their good glycemic control.
