1. Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is one of the most common and single severe gene disorders, affecting approximately 30 million people worldwide.
2. One baby with FH is born globally every minute.
3. While statins and ezetimibe constitute first-line therapy, they provide less than optimal LDL-C reduction in severe FH.
4. In particular, homozygous FH requires combination therapy, high-dose statin and ezetimibe, with or without apheresis.
