At what stage can we reverse diabetes?
In this video, Dr. Suman Kirti, Endocrinologist, Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi talks about when and at what stage diabetes can be reversed? Prediabetes if diagnosed at an early stage can be treated extensively with lifestyle modifications. This can reduce the risk of developing diabetes. In few patients, it can be reversal of prediabetes into normal glucose tolerance. Several studies have been done by diabetes prevention programs across several countries which showed significant benefits are seen due to lifestyle modifications. At this stage, metformin is also added which has shown 30 – 40 % risk reductions of diabetes along with lifestyle modifications.
