In this video, Dr. K K Aggarwal, President Heart Care Foundation of India and Group Editor in Chief MEDtalks, will talk on whether every person with dengue requires admission. He says that there is no need for each patient to get admitted. Dengue is never serious in presence of fever. It becomes serious when fever is subsiding and the in next two days, leakage of plasma or capillary leakage can happen. Intravascular dehydration takes place due to capillary leakage. Even if there is a rapid loss of platelets and rapid increase in haematocrit with no bleeding, no need of admission. Only in case of visible major bleeding, admission is required.
