What is rapid culture?

In this video, Dr. Narendra Saini, MBBS, MD, Internal / General Medicine, will explain about the rapid culture in this video. As technology is advancing, there is also an advancement in the field of blood cultures. In earlier days, it used to take 7-8 days for the blood culture reports. Nowadays, it can be done within a day time.  The advantage of rapid culture is that there is no contamination as there is continuous monitoring of the organisms. Earlier there was no mechanism to find the growth of organisms. At present, due to advancement, machines have sensors which can detect the growth of the organisms and arrive at a diagnosis rapidly which will further initiate appropriate treatment.
