Prof. Ashish Mohan Khokar pioneered arts administration in India and is a well know cultural personality with solid work in the field last four decades. He is a reputed scholar-critic-author with 45 books to credit. Currently he is the National Culture Columnist for The Hindu (21 cities edition). He has travelled to over 25 countries spreading knowledge of Indian arts and culture. He worked in France, Sweden, Germany, China and USA with Festivals of India in 1980s. He also curated art events for former Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Spain, Poland, Norway, Malaysia and Italy. He was director INTACH for 5 years and Executive Director Martand Singh Asso. 1990-2016 Critic - The Times of India for 25 years. For past 20 years, he is also the founder- Editor of attendance, India's only yearbook on performing arts; as scholar-critic and as an art historian, he has written 85 modules for UGC's M.A. level course on the internet. A visiting professor to many universities like Baroda, Bangalore, Mauritius, Paris, he is a scholarship holder of various bodies in India and abroad. He is a life member of INTACH , IIC and in past, on governing boards of the ICCR, AFB plus many national and international festival committees. He has instituted 5 awards for young artistes through attendance History Society that he also chairs. For 2 decades now, he is an art columnist for the India Today group. He contributes heritage modules to Sahapedia, the largest Indian arts web portal. He is currently Project Advisor-IGNCA, Delhi and on Executive Board of Alliance Francaise, Bangalore. In spare time, he has also helped with content and museum design (Mathura, Goa, Trivandrum, Bangalore) curator (50 Dance DISCourses presenting over 800 artistes, 25 SKP Festivals, 10 Purush tours...and now weekend Neemrana shows) and cultural policy expert. At heart, he is a desh and kala sevak.
