PPI use is associated with decreased bacterial richness and profound changes in the gut microbiome leading to SIBO. Probiotics help to enhance the growth of good bacteria which increases the migrating motor complex (MMC), modulates the gut’s immune system, strengthens the gut mucosal barrier and prevent SIBO.
