Obesity along with alcohol abuse is an underlying factor in fatty liver disease. Abdominal obesity and metabolic syndrome cause insulin resistance which leads to a cascade of inflammation and damage to liver tissues.  In this video, Dr J S Rajkumar talks about liver disease in obese individuals.
