Non-HDL Cholesterol
- ASCVD risk remains high in patients who have attained the guideline – recommended LDL-C goals.
- In some circumstances like diabetes, obesity or very low LDL-C, it may underestimate the risk conferred by other apoB-containing lipoproteins.
- In these conditions, the simple calculation of non-HDL-C captures all apoB-containing lipoproteins, including remnant cholesterol.

- Non-HDL-C is a co-primary target
- Elevated apoB is a moderate nonconventional risk factor (a level >110 mg/dL of apoB corresponds to an LDL-C >130 mg/dL).
