Dr. David Barbe, a board-certified family physician from Mountain Grove, Missouri, for 36 years. was the 172nd president of the American Medical Association from June 2017 to June 2018. He currently serves as president of the World Medical Association. Dr. Barbe received his bachelorâ€™s degree with honors in microbiology and his medical doctorate from the University of Missouriâ€“Columbia School of Medicine. He completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Kansas affiliated program in Wichita, Kansas. He also received his Master of Health Administration from the University of Missouriâ€“Columbia.
