Overview

In the context of India's second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the appearance of the B.1.617+ variant, a newly identified double mutant variant that was first detected in the country, undoubtedly exacerbated the uncontrollable and devastating COVID-19 situation in India This variation of concern (VOC) has a higher risk of disease transmission and severity than the variant of interest. Continuous monitoring will assist combat the ever-changing epidemic through strict implementation and surveillance strategies.
