The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) gave approval to molnupiravir for emergency use in the treatment of adult patients with COVID-19 and who have a high risk of disease progression, thus adding another potential drug to the therapeutic armamentarium for the treatment of COVID-19.
The oral antiviral pill can be easily taken at home and many experts are of the opinion that it could be a game-changer as it could prevent disease worsening.
