The effectiveness of India's healthcare system can be judged based on how accessible, high-quality healthcare services are to all citizens, regardless of their socio-economic status. To create a healthy nation, it is crucial that the healthcare needs of all members of society are taken into consideration and that no one is denied access to quality healthcare.
Experts are highlighting the rapid evolution of India's healthcare system, noting the increasing use of technology and the advancement of medical services. With the introduction of artificial intelligence, robotics, and other cutting-edge technologies, the healthcare sector in India is on the rise. These advances are helping to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services in the country, reducing costs and improving the efficiency of care.
A panel discussion on 'Healthcare for all: Successes, challenges, and what next?' was conducted by BioAsia 2023, wherein the members discussed the obstacles, successes, and future strategies for providing comprehensive and high-quality healthcare for all. The session was moderated by Vikas Dandekar, Editor, Pharma and Life Sciences, ET Prime, and included eminent healthcare professionals from vivid sectors as the panel members.
During the interactive session, Dr. Basant Garg, Additional CEO, National Health Authority, stated, "Ayushman Bharat, India's flagship health insurance program, has provided a great deal of hope for the low-income population to access medical care. Supporting the mission, the National Health Authority (NHA) has made significant efforts to ensure transparency and provide real-time information to the public. Nearly all healthcare beneficiaries have been successfully registered with Adhar databases, allowing for swift and accurate identification of health issues." He further confirmed that over 230 million beneficiaries have availed of the Ayushman Bharat program, and more than 44 billion hospitalizations have taken place.
According to the views of a
panelist, Dr, Pavoor, Prem Pavoor, Senior Partner, Head of India and Healthcare
Investments, Eight Roads Ventures, and Simpson Emmanuel, CEO & Managing
Director, Roche Pharma India, one of the major catalysts for the digital
revolution in India is attributed to mobile and internet facilities. The
proliferation of mobile technology has significantly impacted the healthcare
industry in India, leading to a greater level of awareness amongst patients and
greater efficiency in healthcare delivery. Smartphones have enabled greater
access to information for patients, as well as allowed consultations, drugs,
and quality tests to be carried out from home. This has resulted in a rapid acceleration
of change in the Indian healthcare industry over the past few years.
