PGI to Provide Cashless Treatment Under CGHS

In a significant development, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi will now offer cashless treatment facilities under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). This new benefit will be extended to both current employees and pensioners.

The decision to expand the patient-care facility follows a letter written by former MP Avinash Rai Khanna to the Union health minister, urging the empanelment of the country's leading government health institutes into the CGHS.

Khanna highlighted the financial and medical advantages of the scheme, emphasizing the need to include prestigious hospitals like PGIMER Chandigarh, AIIMS Delhi, DMC Ludhiana, and Safdarjung Hospital Delhi under the CGHS.

This move is expected to enhance healthcare access for government employees and pensioners, ensuring convenient and cashless treatment at renowned medical institutions.
