The Union health ministry is gearing up to launch the ‘Ayushman Bhav’ program, a comprehensive initiative aimed at achieving 100% coverage of all state-run health schemes. The program will ensure that every intended beneficiary, including those in remote areas, receives the benefits of these health schemes.
Under the ‘Ayushman Bhav program, several activities will be undertaken, including ‘Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0’, ‘Ayushman Sabha,’ ‘Ayushman Mela,’ and ‘Ayushman Gram.’ These initiatives seek to optimize the delivery of health services to eligible beneficiaries.
The ‘Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0’ drive will commence on August 1, focusing on full saturation and outreach of health schemes. Additionally, ‘Ayushman Sabha’ will play a vital role as a village-level campaign led by the village health, sanitation, and nutrition committee, ensuring that the advantages of both central and state government health schemes reach the intended recipients.
The program aims to enhance awareness about the significance of health insurance scheme cards, such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY), and promote the generation of Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) numbers. Moreover, it will educate people about the importance of utilizing screening services for various diseases, including non-communicable diseases (NCDs), sickle cell disease, and communicable diseases like tuberculosis. The campaign will raise awareness of reproductive and child health, immunization, nutrition, and anemia.
‘Ayushman Sabhas’ will be organized in each village, facilitating the distribution of PMJAY cards and providing information about PMJAY-empaneled hospitals and available treatment packages.
The ‘Ayushman Mela,’ which will take place at the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centers (AB-HWCs) level, will include medical camps and screenings to promote early diagnosis and provide comprehensive primary healthcare services.
‘Ayushman Gram,’ the fourth pillar of the program, aims to achieve complete coverage of PMJAY card distribution, ABHA ID generation, immunization, NCD screening, and more. Villages that successfully implement all the schemes will be recognized as ‘Ayushman Grams’ and awarded certificates.
The program seeks to bridge the gap in healthcare access, especially for marginalized communities, by bringing specialized medical services to block levels, even in areas with a shortage of specialist doctors. Through these initiatives, the government aims to ensure that health services reach all eligible individuals, creating a healthier and more inclusive nation.”
