A recent study has found that almond yogurt, among various dairy alternatives, is the most nutrient-rich option. The study compared the nutritional value of plant-based yogurts to dairy yogurts and discovered that plant-based alternatives have higher fiber content and lower sugar levels. However, they generally contain less protein and calcium compared to dairy yogurts.
The study used the Nutrient Rich Foods Index to determine the nutrient density of different yogurt types, and almond-based yogurts scored the highest. As plant-based alternatives gain popularity, researchers are still exploring their nutritional value and how they compare to animal-based products.
However, consumers need to consider individual nutritional needs and consult with a registered dietitian or healthcare provider for guidance when choosing yogurt options.
